The topic of OsEAN’s 8th "Open Forum for Osteopathic Education" conference was "Teaching Clinical Competencies". The clinic is an important part in osteopathic education and clinical competencies are a core part of osteopathic training, according to the CEN-Standard for Osteopathy (CENTC414-N0086). Teaching clinical competencies includes the application of all osteopathic skills to real patients.
The programme included two keynote speeches by Prof. Eyal Lederman (UK) and Steven Vogel (UK), eleven presentations and six workshops in the folloing areas:
- How to manage a Clinic
- Soft Skills in the clinical approach
- Research during the clinical Phase
- Managing skills in an osteopathic practice
- The role of virtual and simulated patients in clinical education
- Technology and innovation in osteopathic clinical education.
The conference was held on 29th & 30th September 2022 in Antwerp (Belgium), which is a city pioneer in fine art, design, contemporary architecture, and fashion. Antwerp has a bustling cultural life, thriving trade and gastronomic pearls which makes it the ideal location for our conference.
The venue of the Open Forum was Radisson Blu Astrid Hotel. You can learn more about it here.
We were very excited to meeting you all again! Thank you for being there!
