This presentation is based on the wealth of papers presented for publication in the recent Special Issue of the International Journal of Osteopathic Medicine. It will highlight current issues facing the osteopathic profession and the innovative ways that are being used to address them.

Professor Stephen Tyreman qualified as an osteopath in 1974 and has been involved in osteopathic education since 1978. He is Dean of Osteopathic Education Development at the BSO and Course Leader for the Professional Doctorate. He is also professor of osteopathy at Campus Kristiania, Oslo, Norway.
Dr Tyler Cymet is a Board Certified Family Physician in Baltimore USA. He has an extensive academic pedigree including John Hopkins University and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is currently Associate Vice-president for Medical Education at American Association of Colleges of Medical Education.
