"What kind of research-cooperation between institutions do you have or would like to see in the future?" / Symposium A
"As part of a growing global recognition of osteopathy, it would be desirable to establish, (as already happens in some countries?) a "multidisciplinary cooperation" that has as its goal the "cultural" recognition of osteopathy by European conventional medicine. This could be made possible through increased collaboration between doctors, specialists, and osteopaths.
If one hand conventional medicine is (legitimately) asking for an improvement of the scientific methodology used by osteopathy in its approach to the patient, on the other, it is necessary that there be an opening to traditional medicine, this being the fundamental "sine qua non" of the osteopathic philosophy in its overall approach to the patient.
The final objective should be the establishment of a common scientific platform that takes into account individual professional training and formal education. This new platform will inevitably lead to clear advantages and improvements in terms of patient outcomes.
